How'd we come together?
Metatron was started sometime during the late 90s by Cbeon (Alex Mercado) and Swisar Won (Jesus Hernandez). Both attended Del Valle High School in El Paso, TX where they began writing lyrics in styles similar to their favorite artists as well as producing beats (Swisar Won). In the summer of 2001, Metatron began performing at shows with another local group, The Untouchable Crew. After The Untouchable Crew disbanded, one of it's members and neighborhood friend, AVOID the Lyricist (Juan Castrellon), joined metatron as a rapper/producer. Soon after that DJ Metronix, a well-known local DJ, joined Metatron to complete the hip-hop machine that Metatron is today. Together they have made some of the most diverse and energetic music in the El Paso music scene. |

Influences?
One of the most identifying aspects behind Metatron's music is the diverse influence that each of it's members possesses. Swisar Won is influenced by the more thugged-out rappers such as Jay-Z, Mobb Deep, and Nas among others. Cbeon finds influence from intellectual rappers like Talib Kweli, Black Thought of The Roots, and OutKast. AVOID is into the jazzier old-school side of hip-hop like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. However, all three MCs find common ground whenever any good hip-hop is on the table. DJ Metronix is influenced by all the past deejays that came before him. Some of his greatest influences are Jam Master Jay, Pete Rock and Dj Premier.
None of that matters unless we look at our greatest influence, The Almighty Great One, who gives us the ability to do what we love. It is he who created music for us. This is just our interpretation.
